See You There: Mall Memories Workshop
May 24th, 1-3PMThe New Gallery, 208 Centre St S
Join us on May 24th at The New Gallery as we create a collaborative community zine, centered around all of our collective memories of the recently demolished Eau Claire Market! This zine workshop will be hosted by Kiera Russell of the Calgary Zine Club, curator Jessica Szeto and artists, Brady Fullerton, Danny Luong and Stephen Chen.
See You There: Mall Memories Workshop coincides with the exhibition “see you there // meet me here: echoes of eau claire” which captures the complex history of the Eau Claire Market, a building whose identity had continually shifted over the years. It is certain that this building held different significance to many people, all who are left to recall the Eau Claire Market only as a nuanced memory. Szeto’s exhibition explores methods of archiving a collective memory while making space for complicated feelings surrounding loss and mourning.
