The New Gallery 2012 Print Folio Fundraiser

In Fall of 2012, The New Gallery created a print folio to honour the memory of Calgary master printer John Snow. Each of the ten prints included were created by Canadian artists who had been involved with the gallery’s history, and were printed on the recently refurbished letterpress at John Snow House, The New Gallery’s ancillary space.

The completed folio memorialized the strong history of Calgary’s artist-run culture and The New Gallery’s role in that history, while continuing to look towards the future by including emerging artists’ prints alongside works by established members of the art community.

The ten pieces included in this project were created by the following artists: drunken paw (Mark Dicey, Leslie Sweder, and Janet Turner), David Garneau, Heather Huston, Kim Huynh, Don Mabie, Mireille Perron, Scott Rogers, Ryan Statz, Tim Westbury, and Andrea Williamson. These artists have overlapping histories and varied relationships to TNG, and all have made significant contributions to the development of contemporary visual arts in Calgary.

Only 20 folios were produced during this special project, and the launch event took place on December 15, 2012. Individual prints are now being sold for $75 with all proceeds going to support The New Gallery’s continued programming and operations. We thank you all for your ongoing support in the advancement of contemporary art in Calgary!
